<p>I’m currently a rising college freshman. I have no qualms about my HS academics, however, I’m going to attend a 3rd tier university on the quarter system next fall. The deadline to apply to my university’s fall quarter honors program was in January (back then I did not want to attend that university, so I didn’t even bother to apply). I will start out in the school honor’s program in the winter, so my college schedule won’t be as rigorous as it could be. will this kill my app? I’m going to try to take at least one 200-level class.</p>
<p>I think that doing well is most important. Don’t focus on the little things like will I be in honors or is this rigorous enough (referring to your schedule from the previous thread). Really look into the schools to figure out what fits you and what reasons you can bring up for transferring. For NU specifically, you have to show why you want to be at NU. Also please don’t use phrases like “kill my app.” What’s the point? Do you honestly believe this has a chance of destroying your chances?</p>
<p>I doubt it, but if you’re really worried, explain your situation on your application.</p>
<p>I am interested specically in Uchicago (for good reasons), but the odds are against me. Based on interesting juxtaposition from the college board and CC threads and the fact that only 5% of it’s ~2500 transfer applications are accepted, getting accepted as a transfer student is harder in comparison to freshman admission. I have qualms about that.</p>
<p>Why are you going to a “third tier” college if your high school academics are that great? Is that school Drexel? Because I know that Drexel operates on a quarter system.</p>
<p>I am not attending Drexel. I am attending a third tier because I am not eighteen yet and my parents did not want to cosign my loan, but I am expedient and know I probably would have had a crap shot chance as a freshman applicant… I did not mean it in a condescending/arrogant way.</p>
