Will this matter ?

Hey guys,

I am a senior who just got rejected by almost every single college that I applied to. As I am reapplying for next year, do you think the fact that I have 3 or 4 B’s under my belt will hurt my chance of getting in to top schools ? Should I not apply to those schools at all ?

Why don’t you just go to a community college or one of the schools that you were accepted to and then transfer?

I am an international student who is applying for FA so it’s a much more complicated matter.

Do you think my GPA will be too low with 4 Bs ?

why don’t u just go to one of the non-‘top’ colleges u got accepted by?

I did not even get in anywhere. Waitlist from Union is only my non-rejection letter.

Any other comments ? I truly need help now

A lot of schools are still accepting applications. Even some reputable state schools.

It all comes down that as an International student who needs aid, it is impossible for me to get aid at state schools.

Yeah financial aid is only open to US Citizens and Permanent Residents, I believe. If you have a credit line (which you don’t because you’re international), you can set up a loan.

Some private institutions do have Financial aid for international students. Those schools are top schools so that’s why I am asking whether my GPA is too low.

Where did you apply? When did you get those Bs? What classes were they in?

4 Bs will not kill you. You are still very strong academically.

Do community college for the year you’re waiting for. If you have a nice transcript/GPA from community college, the colleges you want to attend will look positively into that. (There are also summer courses, so you can start early!)

The thing is I will go back home for the gap year, where I will be doing an internship at a biology lab.

^ Can you elaborate? Going back home as in your state? And if so, can’t you do both the internship and the community college? (They have flexible hours both night and day.)

Yeah, I will go back to my home country, Vietnam after graduation. Therefore, I won’t be able to go to community college.

Oh! I totally missed your second post about you being an international student! Sorry! :(

But, is it possible to live on rent/get a job/work your way up while attending community college?

As an international student, I am not allowed to work off campus. Plus, it’s so hard for me to transfer and ask for aid as an international student.

Where did you apply? Answer me!!!11111

Hmm… Then I am not sure. :frowning:
Hopefully someone else can help you out… Another thing I can think of is online classes, but I don’t recommend it!

^i’m assuming top privates who are generous with need based aid but unfortuneately reaches for the OP… honestly nns91 I wouldn’t bank on re-applying next year, I think your best bet is to go to a community college in a state where residience can be formed just by living there for a period of time (1 year usually) and then transferring so you can at least get in state tuition.

Federal Aid is not possible unless you have a US social security number… you should probably tell us what schools you applied to so we have an idea of what you should do.
