My family did not accurately input the investment asset value on the FAFSA. We put “will file”. With new information, the new investment asset value will decrease 25%. Will this trigger verification?

It might trigger verification because you are SUPPOSED to put accurate numbers for assets and not change them.

But if you made a mistake on the assets, then you are allowed to correct. It MUST be the value as of the date of your initial FAFSA filing.

But really, verification is NOT a problem. Just make sure you have documentation of your correct asset values as of the date of your initial FAFSA filing. That is what you should have used.
