Will top colleges accept me with a B+?

Noooooooo… I just got back my semester final grades and I got a B+ in AP Calculus BC. Will this look bad when I’m applying to colleges? I still have a 4.51 weighted GPA and a 3.95 unweighted GPA. I’m super worried.

If you get rejected by a college, I highly doubt that the determine factor was one B+. Every top college routinely rejects applicants with a 4.0/36/1600 while accepting some with lower stats. Grades are only part of the application. Good luck.

Also, was this B+ for the whole course or just the semester? Colleges care about grades for a course, but may not care (or even see) semester grades.

Even if it is a B+ for the whole course, it is very unlikely (as mentioned) to be the difference maker.

One B+ in one advanced class will not ruin your chances at any school. But do keep in mind that with acceptance rates under 10% the very top colleges must be considered reaches for any unhooked applicant. There is just not enough space for these schools to accept all of the very well qualified candidates. So when the time comes, be sure to apply to a wide range of reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable (you will have to run a net price calculator for each school you consider) and that you would be excited to attend.
