Will two separate high schools hurt my resume?

I’m a junior right now - previously I went to a very small, private ‘gifted & talented’ school from eighth grade to sophomore year and just transferred back to a larger public school. (As an aside, it was a jump from around 35 people to 700.) I’m curious - is this going to hurt my application for an Ivy? I had strong grades even without weight at my old school and was fencing team captain and student body president, so I think it shows I didn’t leave because of academic or social issues (at least, not on my transcript…) Anyone? I’m an Asian male, if it helps or hurts.

10charac? Also, why?

No. Focus on doing well in the big school. You can write your essays about the transition and how you grew personally as a result.

I can’t see how it matters, unless you were expelled from the first one. But interviewers may ask you why you switched.

Thank you for all the answers. Another question, what about recs? Should I give one from both schools, or just my current?

whichever school teacher that knows you best – most colleges prefer that your teachers be from your 11th or 12th grade, but if you have a better bond with teachers from the school before, you should give it to them. So the basic answer is “whichever teacher that knows you best regardless of the school”
