Will UC Care If I Don’t Send My AP Exam Score?

Hi everyone,

I’m got accepted to UCSD (fall 2025) and have a quick question about AP scores.

When I filled out my UC application, I reported that I was planning to take the AP Pre-Calculus exam this year. However, I’m now thinking about not taking the exam because it doesn’t count for credit toward UCSD.

Since I listed the exam as “Planned” on my UC application, I’m wondering:
• Will UCSD care if they don’t receive the score?
• Could this impact my admission status or cause any issues?

I’ve read that UC schools don’t require AP scores for admission and that they’re only used for placement or credit after enrollment, but I just want to make sure skipping this score won’t raise any red flags.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or know how UCSD or UC in general handles this?

Thanks in advance!

Probably won’t be an issue, although you may be required to provide a written explanation for the change.
