will universities contact each other?

Rice just sent me an email saying they’ll waive my application fee. Now, I don’t actually want to go there, but I kinda want to write a joke application for them. Nothing too offensive, just for example on their essay question “what do you want to study” something like

I wish to pursue gynecology. Since a young age I’ve had a fascination for the female aspects of human anatomy.

Will they get ****ed and tell my other colleges about this? Especially because they ask me to list the other places I’m applying to…

btw I’m using this as an anonymous account

Probably not. And if you’re going to lie on the essay, why would you be honest about the other colleges?

Anyway, this sounds like a terrible idea, of dubious entertainment value (meaning, it’s not funny).

Well, colleges do tend to find out if you violate an ED agreement at one, so communication among them is not unprecedented…I wouldn’t do it.

By law colleges are not allowed to talk to other colleges about applicants (it is considered restraint of trade). Schools can share their list of accepted ED candidates (since they are no longer applicants to other schools)

Who may become angry at you is your guidance counselor if the college contacts her and lets her know how you sent a joke application. The GC could become angry at wasting her time writing the GC recc for your application, and the GC may fear that Rice could assume that the GC and other students at your school are not worth taking the time to seriously consider.

And why send that kind of “joke”? Why cause others to waste their time? Rice was trying to do you a favor. Why consider slapping them in the face. This idea makes you come off very badly.
