The book will probably not get published but will it help my application at all?
I’ve gotten perfect attendance, best in spanish, orchestra, AP World, Algebra, and a citizenship awards.

The awards go on a spot on your application usually says “special recognition and awards” or something similar.

Writing a book is more of a hobby than an EC (this is just my opinion-ask your guidance counselor if you could put it in the EC section-I may be wrong)

BUT you can put it in your essay-it will show work ethic and your ability to finish difficult projects that you have started.

Best of Luck!

I have another question! I dropped APUSH but then I went back in again because the regents us history was too easy. Will that be in my transcript and should I put that in my essay too?

People who don’t even know where you go to high school don’t have any idea what will be on your transcript. High-school transcripts don’t all look alike. You need to ask your guidance counselor about your transcript.

I would not waste essay space on this issue, though. Use your essay space to discuss the kind of person you are, or how you’ve become who you are, or who you hope to become. If the history matter won’t be obvious to somebody who’s just looking at your transcript, your guidance counselor should address it in the Secondary School Report.

Writing a book vs. getting an actual publisher who pays you is a big difference. So it’s fine to mention it but don’t assume it’s that unique – it’s not.

If you have space, you can mention the attendance award – that’s not much to any college.
