They are only looking to fill 300 spots since 250 were admitted early decision. So figure they accept 600/14000 which is 4.3% regular decision ragw
Accepted
Daughter rejected. She gave it a good shot, but no one has apparently been accepted into Williams from her high school in the last 15 years.
I would of hoped for at least a waitlist–straight rejection is rough. I have now been accepted, waitlisted and rejected from colleges all with the same acceptance rate. Total crapshoot I guess.
Waitlisted.

Great ECs

Daughter accepted. Good FA we can afford
Waitlisted
Daughter waitlisted. She got into Pomona and Amherst though
Accepted with surprisingly great FA! Had been originally rejected from Window on Williams as well.
accepted and +1 on good financial aid!
Congratulations! To turn around a rejection and then persist and succeed in RD is an amazing accomplishment.
Waitlist could be a smaller group this year since their ED rejection letter this year noted they wanted to only waitlist those who were very close to prevent holding people on a waitlist.
Would you have the exact text of that?
They actually waitlisted 15% out of 15,411 according to Reddit (2,312 applicants). So… maybe not. And not much waitlist movement in the past few years, either, according to the CDS.
I got into Amherst, so I’m wondering what it is that kept me from getting into Williams, even with ED and then saying I’d go in my LOCI. Every school’s different, obviously, but it just makes me curious.
Interesting. Same here- Large public well-regarded high school sent one student to Williams since 2010. No Williams reps come to our school each year, either.
It looks like a crapshoot to us but this shows that you are more than a few numbers. Your areas of interest, EC profile, or demographic might make you a great fit at one place and not another. Based on their priorities for building the best class they can. If you have acceptances at ANY schools with THIZ kind of acceptance rate you did an AMAZING job in High School and should be very proud. And : assume that the school that accepted you took a good hard look and saw that they NEEDED you. That’s great.
My son got in at Amherst, too. Very excited about it!!! He also got waitlisted at Williams. It’s interesting, but he put in an arts package at Amherst and not Williams. He’s fine with it. Happy for you!!!
to be fair when has reddit been an accurate source of information
in all seriousness they might have meant the accept+waitlist rate is 15% meaning the waitlist only % would be 8, pure speculation though
also https://www.williams.edu/admission-aid/waiting-list-frequently-asked-questions/ average of 600-750 people who accept a place on the waitlist
