I haven’t, it may have to do with your school. I’m the only person at my school applying ED(maybe even in general). So it may not be worth it for some schools to get emails since it tells you 12/8 on the website anyway. Read nothing into it. You’ll know in 3 days anyway.
are you an international student and what are your stats?
Some school counselors have relationships with AOs and are notified informally.
no their counsellor didn’t have any relationship but the surprising thing was that a notification was given on the 20th just 5 days after the deadline
You are overthinking everything. There are no tea leaves here.
I am in panic mode lmao
I’m a domestic student, my school does GPA weirdly but I’m in the top decile of my class in rigorous classes.
9 APs 35 ACT
- NYS Civic Seal
- AP scholar with distinction
ECs (not in any order) - girl scouts 9 years, completed silver award
- cross country/track and field - 2x all conference honoree, holds a school record (probably will hold 3 by the end of the year) planning to run d3 but not recruited + received the coaches award for excellence in cross country
- art (recreational) but submitted portfolio
- music (self taught in piano) (voice for all my life, have performed in chorale as well as sung solo at local parades)
- robotics (frc)
I’m white (not european) from new york, and will not be applying for need based aid. That’s a basic outline, if you have more questions dm me!
My Ss school has sent one kid to Williams in the last 7 years. I think he is the first one in many years to apply ED. I dont expect them to communicate wiht his counselor and if they did I would be shocked if she let him know. Don’t worry about it too much, in 3 days you will know
Yup! We’ve had 5 kids apply since ‘08!!!
thats an impressive application! Any idea if i come from a city in a country where nobody applies to foreign colleges from; it may be to my advantage?
Thanks! It’s difficult to say, but I don’t think it can hurt….Can it help? I can’t really answer because I’m not an admissions officer.
I’m sure you’re an amazing student, and whether you get in or not doesn’t make you less smart of a person. When people ask me if I’ll be crushed if I don’t get in, I reply with “I’m confident in my application and if I don’t get into Williams, I know I’ll end up at another amazing school.” I know you will too.
Thank you so mcuh! and does being first gen hep?
First gen college? Yes.
can it sway my application?
cause I didn’t mention it in the additional info just fill on the common app that my mom/dad’s highest level of education was high school
That I’m not sure of. Probably better to ask someone with experience or just wait until the 8th. That’s what I’m doing anyway. I’ve done everything in my power and if I don’t get in, it is what it is.
I believe that first gen is only helpful for domestic applicants. Your swimming is a great EC and certainly rounds out your application but is not a spike unless your times are able to help the swim team. My suggestion as a parent is to know it is going to be what it is going to be and know you will wind up in the right place for you and have back ups you would love to attend if Williams doesn’t work out. But all of my fingers and toes are crossed for you!
oh right…and any idea bout the number of applicants this year ed? Another all time high
We will know the number of applicants from the press release Friday (ish). Most probably a record number again. In the past, a lot of students who did not get into the Ivies early would then apply to Williams regular. However, since going grant-only without any work requirement, the dynamics have changed.
that’s true…and do they have a criteria (or a number in mind) to admit x number of children internationally too…and do you have any idea how many internationals students apply ed to williams
