Williams College Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

I don’t think you are going to find that number anywhere. I think in the latest CDS they showed that they enrolled around 50 international students. But, they don’t break out the details of ED applicants. Good luck!

any idea how many apply? in ed

How do you know they will send an email rather than a portal update?

they will send an email saying that you have a status update in your portal

deleted. thanks.

a williams kid just remarked to me that it is exceptionally hard thi year to get into ed cause all of the spots have been taken by recruited atheletes and legacy kids. that is sad and should not be tolerated

I’m not sure what that kid was suggesting, but traditionally recruited athletes apply early every year. Legacies who are very interested also tend to apply early. I don’t think these particular sorts of applicants, when admitted, are really taking away early spots from other applicants, because there is no particular reason for a college to insist on only admitting a certain fixed number of people early.

I dont remember if it was in this thread or another one, but someone had mentioned for non hooked kids, Williams admissions officers had said that there is no real difference between applying ED or RD. It is what it is. If Williams is your first choice and you can afford it you apply ED, if not you wait. None of this process is truly fair.

This is the case every year, with pretty much any selective LAC. And it’s not “all the spots” – but it is a disproportionate number for ED admission, because that’s when most (recruited) athletic and legacy admits happen.

Does anyone know what time they announce? Someone earlier in this thread speculated 6 PM. Trying to plan the day and the anxiety schedule  Thanks

We have planned after school activities. Figuring between 6 and 7

Dang. This thread has heated up. My sympathy to everyone who is feeling stress, anxiety, and, perhaps, frustration. You’re certainly not alone! One small mercy for which we should be grateful is that we know that Williams’s ED results will come out tomorrow and not a week later like other schools. Like I said, small mercies.

Does anyone know how the ED decisions are issued? Will the student receive an email or do they have to check some kind of portal?

you have applied ed? and youR stats whether international or US?

Yes, I have heard that there is no real difference in terms of the level of review between ED and RD. They apply the same standard, the fact that you are applying ED and committed to attend does not make them more likely to accept you. They view each application the same.

Do you know how the decision is conveyed? Is it in the portal or through an email?

My D24 is a domestic ED applicant from an uncool state, top 5%, 35 ACT, 12 APs, etc., etc. I totally get your desire for comparison, but I suspect it’s merely going to increase anxiety without providing any helpful information. Everyone’s context and application is different (especially internationals), so comparisons are largely fruitless. The brutal truth is that the majority of applicants will not be admitted to Williams despite having stellar applications for reasons totally beyond their control.

As wonderful as I think my kid is as a human and applicant, I’d personally categorize my expectation for tomorrow as “cautiously pessimistic.”

Same, S24 has a music spike and he was told by the music teacher he met in person that she has minimal pull wtih admissions. We will know in about 26 hours.

You receive an email that there is udpate in the portal and then receive the decision in the portal. Good luck to all and remember there are very random factors involved.
