Congratulations! The road not taken was going to hurt a bit either way, I suspect. Hopefully you’ll get to have your cake and eat it too, when it comes time for grad school You must be an impressive student to have gotten both of these offers; I’m sure that will still be true a few years from now, if not more so! Hope you have a wonderful experience at Williams!
Congratulations. All best wishes at Williams.
Smart choice re: Williams. Paying 30K for someone’s ability to recognize a name isn’t worth it. Both schools are excellent and can get you where you want to go. Williams has excellent resources and a tight alumni network.
Just wanted to say I think you made the right choice. I personally think it would be insane to pay that much more for ANY school over Williams. Williams sends its kids to the top grad schools in the country in high volume. They are know for it. Grad schools do not care at all if you went to Stanford or Williams, they care what you did there. I promise you that people who know, know Williams.
Also. Concerning a rigorous atmosphere, trust me the Williams students are just as hyped up and anxious as the Stanford kids. There’s zero difference there. In fact Williams is currently trying to figure out how to help its student body relax more and worry about school/grades less.
The Williams alums are extraordinary in their support of recent grads. They go above and beyond more than most, maybe partly because it’s a smaller school and alums who are involved are often INVOLVED.
Happy to hear this!
Williams is a great choice for undergrad, especially as a transfer. The smaller community will be good socially.
And yes to Stanford for grad school!
I really think you will love Williams.
Congratulations! The money makes it an easy choice and you are to be commended for such an achievement,
Be aware that there are a lot of rich kids at Williams and that there have been reports out of Williams in recent years of students from ordinary financial backgrounds having trouble fitting in with their more affluent classmates - especially if they’re minorities. Coming in as a junior when the cliques are already formed won’t make it any easier, but if you know that going in, you can be prepared in advance.
Williams is a fantastic school with lots of opportunities to take advantage of. Best of luck!
Congratulations! I wish you success at Williams.
As something additionally positive to note with respect to Williams, its philosophy program is recognized in this site as among the best in the nation:
Congratulations on your decision and best of luck at Williams.
