Williams e-mail decision

Wow. I just received a very terse rejection letter.
Well - I still have a few universities to put my hope in.
Congratulations to all those who were admitted.

aw, i’m sorry.

what do you mean by terse?

It was very short. It’s not like I expected them to go into a couple of paragraphs explaining why they didn’t pick me; but it is shocking to realize that a couple of lines can change my life for the next four years (or to be realistic, the rest of my life in its entirety). Thanks for the reply though.

This is my rejection letter, i don’t think it’s short :frowning:
Dear Mengzhe,

The Admission Committee has completed its review of the 5,812 applications for

the Class of 2009, and I am sorry to write that you were not included among
those selected for admission. In conveying this disappointing news, I want to
emphasize the Committee’s appreciation of your ability to do very fine college
work and its awareness of the contributions you could make to the Williams
community. Unfortunately, we have room in our first year class for fewer than
one in nine of those who apply.
As you continue your education, I am confident the coming years will be
rewarding ones for you, both intellectually and personally. The Committee joins
me in wishing you every success as you launch your college career.

Sincerely yours,

Richard L. Nesbitt
Director of Admission

I’m not crazy about that rejection letter.

Rejection letters are always shorter than acceptance letters. Though it’s kinda terse but I think that’s good. When I saw the 2K e-mail, I knew immediately the negative result, no need to be thrilled the minutes opening it, ya know what I mean.
G’luck w/ other colleges everyone!

rejected…

the few days of waiting and hitting the refreshing button for approximate 2340988 times have given me a pretty bad impression towards williams

plus the rejection letter sounds meannnn

just keep in mind that admission to Williams is much more difficult for internationals than for domestic students…

It’s really unfair, but if Williams took only the strongest students ( as measured by academic qualities), the student body would probably be 50% international. I believe that they only accept 10% of the international students that apply

Sorry to hear of your rejections guys. I’m sure you’ll be happy at a school that wants you, but I can understand it hurts now. In fact, my D had her hopes set on Williams for ED and got deferred, so I can understand the pain of not getting what you hoped for. Are you all from the US or international? It seems letters were mailed yesterday (Mon.) and it’s typical to email the international students, so it seems really weird if you all are in the States and are getting email rejections when stamped letters are in the post office. Thanks guys, and I really feel for you. Hang in there.

is there any way to check the status of our applications online, because i wasn’t aware of this feature. could somebody post the URL

super–I have not heard of any online access to decisions. I believe Williams only emails (intl’s) and sends letters via the US postal service within the US. I have never heard of anyone being able to check for an online decision there.

I just received the same rejection letter :o( It’s no surprising because during the last 2 days all the letters are negative…just wondering from which university will be the next bad news coming. :o(

same here ckakalacheva. first lehigh, then swarthmore, and now williams… my world is coming down around me :-|

hope there will be some good news for us in the following days ;)

how many does williams admit?

oh, same here… same here…
since friday, i got rejected at colby, waitlisted at middlebury, rejected at williams. there seems to be a pattern – maybe the next one’s another waitlist?

They said they admitted 1050 from ~5800 this year.

yeah there seems to be a pattern
looks like we are the liberal-arts-colleges-dont-really-want-us type

hahaha yeah.

hello harvard.

hell yeah

im coming Yale!!
