The stores are begining to open up in my state. Anyone familiar? Does it compare to Walmart or Costco?

There is a WinCo foods store in my area. I shopped there once, and it was enough for me. It looked more like a run-down Walmart than Costco. The foods were of questionable quality, and I suspect that most produce was “imported”. This is just a limited experience with one store; maybe others will chime in with a different opinion.

(BTW, several times I’ve seen people picketing the store with signs saying something about unfair wages).

Cheaper than either of them and at retail packaging. Employee owned. Some stores have more ethnic clientele and will have more foods directed towards them. WinCo is a acronym for Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon.
DW shops there.

There are 2 with a 3rd to open this week in my area. Cash, ck or ATM cards only. I have found some prices great, other prices much more than the local ralphs or vons. You have to know your prices. Produce was fine at the 2 I’ve been to. It is a bag your own groceries, the place is usually crowded and I haven’t been back in about a yr. I wasn’t impressed with meat. One winco is in a former costco building. Costco moved to a larger place across the street.

My sister shops at one and it is pretty cheap, I feel like it might have that run down junky feeling, but it is an old store there. No matter the other quality (meat/produce) one can definitely get deals on canned goods and other prepackaged items.
