DH and I just got quotes from each of these fine places for the exact same thing, for our bedroom windows (four bedrooms). Hunter Douglas is literally twice as expensive as Blinds to Go. Are there any advantages to HD over BTG? Has anyone used BTG? Their price was very reasonable. Is their quality OK too??

I’ve used other online blinds companies and have been very happy with them and the price!! There is no advantage to going directly with HD at all. I think I used Blinds Direct or something like that. They came as ordered, a week earlier than promised.

Love Blinds to go actually…but just to be sure, check out Home Depot’s own brand of the HD blinds and compare…

I used blinds.com recently for our office – not to take over your screen name, but I was:
VeryHappy! :)

Almost all my blinds are from blinds to go. They do honor their lifetime guarantee (they replaced a blind I had where something happened to one of the controls.)

rodney, Home Depot is a good idea. We’ll check them out. Thanks.

We have Blinds to Go shades in our MBR. Have had them for a while and they have held up very well. No problems.

Gotta put in a good word for Hunter Douglas here. HD has a top-down honeycomb blind (i.e. you can lower the top or raise the bottom or do both simultaneously) which we have installed in our bedroom. We let daylight in by lowering the top while leaving the bottom all the way down to retain privacy. Totally worth the extra money for this feature.

^^We have the same thing with our Blinds to Go cellular shades. I really like being able to lower the top of the shade. That way, the sun doesn’t come blazing into our room until 8:30 am vs. 6:30 if it were raised from the bottom… :)

Vot123 and CountingDown: So in one blind you can go BOTH top down AND bottom up??

Yes … they are very cool. We have the top down/bottom up feature on our living room blinds in our beach house.

Interesting. I’m not sure I have a need for such a thing, but I didn’t even know it’s possible.

We solved the blinds issue…by not buying any. Our second floor bedroom faces the woods and acres
of non-developable land. Our windows are huge and the cost would have been very high. We like seeing the sky…

thumper, that’s what we did in our old house. We faced four acres of wetland that could never be developed – actually, could never even be walked on! Here, however, we face a street; in addition, there’s a street light outside of the MBR window. It doesn’t bother me but DH is getting cranky.

We have the top down/bottom up in our master bath. LOVE them. I have the top 1/4th open all the time but still have privacy. They are the ones we got from the online blind store. We ordered 10 free samples to pick the right color and love how they look in there. We also have the top down/bottom up’s in our kitchen and never use the top down feature. I need to replace the ones in our bedroom with the top down feature so I can have the top down for light but keep privacy.

Considered Blinds to go (looked like a good company) but went with the cut-to-size cellular blinds by Bali at HD and Lowes. Just so much cheaper and a good product. I’m a whiz at putting up blinds now!

^we have several of those as well but we also have windows where those will not work–too wide.

The other honeycomb/cellular shade brand we have in the house is from Levolor. They are also sturdy, come in a bunch of great colors but I don’t know how their prices compare to Blinds to Go. We have the top down/bottom up Hunter Douglas shades in the living room as well. On those windows, which face the street, keeping the top down around halfway gives the same effect as caf

We have 4 sets of wooden blinds from Blinds to Go. These are solid wood with a maple finish. Ordered at 3 different times. Each arrived within 2 days at the store for pickup and all were exactly right. I managed to break a couple of wands - one of the blinds hangs in a mudroom and gets hit - and they replaced them with good humor. No issues, good product.

veryhapy - i use [Blinds ? Window Treatments - Window Blinds and Shades - Horizontal Blinds - Window Shutters](http://www.blindschalet.com)

Quality is fabulous. If you have your measurements already you can plug them into their website and get a quote. They will mail free samples also. They usually have pretty good sales. Right now they have 33 percent off plus buy 3 get 1 free.
