<p>Okay, I’m a little confused.</p>

<p>My laptop is going to be here tonight. Obviously, I’d like to start playing with my new Envy 14. That means transferring files and music, downloading and removing software, etc. But I need to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional to be compatible with Stanford’s network. No problem, Microsoft has the upgrade through Ultimate Steal for $30. But I don’t have $30. What does the upgrade entail? Should I wait to do anything to my computer until I am ready for the upgrade (and therefore do that first?). Or is the upgrade really easy, just download and go? What does the upgrade process entail?</p>

<p>As for the process itself, I’m not sure about a digital download version, but with the CD, you simply run the CD within your current version of Windows and after clicking through the standard “Next” buttons, it should upgrade itself automatically.</p>
