Windstar Cruises - Anyone?

Has anyone been on a Windstar cruise? We are considering one this August, and have only ever been on the mainline big ships (Carnival, RCCL). Truth is, we didn’t love the big ship experience - too many people, too kitschy, but are open to small ships with interesting itineraries. We’re thinking about either an Athens-Istanbul or Rome-Athens itinerary. Both are interesting to us. Thanks.

I’ve been on three: Tahiti/Bora Bora (no longer doing since the Windsong burned) and two Caribbean itineraries. My family loves the Windstar experience. The only big ship we cruised on is the Disney Magic and even the kids prefer Windstar. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and the lack of crowds is wonderful. We are also considering a Greek cruise for next year. I think you would enjoy it.

Ah no. Just don’t like sail boats. Been on most of the mainstream lines and can say I prefer a SHIP… :)

Thanks for the comments.

I’ve talked to people about Windstar, and they have absolutely loved it. It is an entirely different experience, you get to know the passengers and crew well. I would not bring kids, they would be bored, at least mine would with very few/no other kids nor entertainment. Excellent food, they cater to your wishes. You are there for the ports and the experience of small ship upscale cruising. They sometimes have some great deals if you don’t book too far out, and it seems like they go into some amazing ports. No serious dressing up (yay)! One of these days we’ll go on a windstar cruise, and I love those itineraries you mentioned.
