Winter 2013 Transfer Thread

Guys what does private mean for room preference?

I think that means a single-room (aka having no roommates). Also North Neighborhood was my second preference, not first.

I visited Ann Arbor yesterday. It was great, but I still haven’t been able to decide which school I should attend. I think most people prefer leaving in Central campus rather than North campus, simply because you don’t have to commute to your classes. Although, if you’re engineering, it would be a good idea to stay in North campus. I know that a lot of freshman are in North campus.

When did you guys receive your housing information? I created my uniqname yesterday and was wondering when I should expect to receive an email regarding housing.

@redsdave between UIUC and Mich??

Both are excellent engineering schools lol. Academically wise, i would say they are indifferent. It all boils down to cost and the atmosphere :)! Are u a chemE?

@d4wnzz I’m actually history with pre-med hopefully. And yes, it’s between UIUC and Michigan. I like Michigan’s campus a little better, but my three best friends go to U of I and it’s a heck of a lot cheaper…tough decision.

Is anyone gonna join the transfer connections program?

im considering too… Should i? Should we?

I decided to go to U-M. I’m definitely going to join the transfer connections program

I don’t see why not to join!

Exactly. Why not? Seems like a great program to get assimilated at U-M

and its free lolll.

@redsdave03: Hey I am really glad that you choose U-M! I believe you will not regret this choice!

Hey guys, I received an email from U-M that need my current school to complete a transfer-in form, and then U-M would process my I-20 as international student. Does it mean if I got U-M I-20, I will be directly enrolled U-M student. Even later in Dec. if some other institutions accepted me, I still not be able to change?

@Dreamingowl Thanks! I’m really hoping that there will be no regrets. Too early to tell, but I am very excited. As far as your question goes, I honestly don’t know much about the I-20 for international students. My guess is that once U-M gets the I-20, you’ll probably be a Michigan student. If so, then yes, you will not be able to change schools. Don’t quote me on that, but that’s my guess. Sorry if that didn’t help you much lol

When are you guys gonna take your placement tests?

@UofPitt what placement tests? For Foreign Language?

We’ve got to take placement tests again? Aw come on. I thought I was done with those…

Hi! If anyone is looking for somewhere to live next semester (if you’re transferring in), please let me know! There is one bedroom available in a two bedroom apartment with one bathroom, large living space, and parking space included.

Location: 1001 S. Forest. (super close to campus!)
Rent: $600, but price is negotiable!
Gender: Female

Please contact me (reply) if interested!

@UofPit - Most language placement exams are taken at orientation and I think math is offered online. If you took an Asian language in high school like me (Chinese), you need to contact that department to take that test because they aren’t offered at orientation. I’m taking the Chinese Placement exam on November 28th, which is awesome since I haven’t been in language class for 2 years. lol

@mega, how did u schedule an appointment for Asian language? im taking the chinese placement test too!
