Winter Admits anyone?

I am a winter admit too (2007)
It’s honestly not too bad, although you are going to have a VERY long summer

About housing… there is a good chance you guys won’t get housing. The winter admits 2006 all did but not us, 2007.

anyways, here’s some quick advice on apartments
choose an apartment near the school bus stops, NOT the closest ones. (school buses as in UCSD’s, NOT the city’s)

1. The school shuttle buses (nobel and ariba) comes like every 10-15 minutes so it’s actually quite convenient.

2. The closer apartments are alot smaller and more expensive

3. The apartments that the school shuttles go to are usually the ones that are walking distance from the malls/stores.

Costa verde, La Jolla Colonies, International Gardens, la Scolla (is that how you spell it?) are all pretty nice… there’s alot more

It’s actually pretty easy to find an apartment and you shouldn’t have a problem. A lot of my friends got their’s a month or two before school started.

I love living in an apartment, I can’t imagine being crammed into tiny rooms and sharing showers with 8 other ppl. The main issue is that it’s going to be harder to meet people. The nice thing though is that usually there are tons of people in your complex that are winter admits so it’s not too bad… joining clubs and sports help a ton

On top of that, parties are a lot easier to hold and find because the campus police isn’t breathing down your neck.

Nevertheless, missing the first quarter really blows but it’s not really the end of the world. As long as you take classes at a community college, you won’t get behind at all. (Make sure to check out www.assist.org ,even if a course on there isn’t deemed as “UCSD equivalent”, you can easily appeal… although its a risk) Chances are, you’ll probably get all your classes too winter quarter.

So dont stress too much
