Hey I was wondering if anyone else received an email from UCLA admissions this past weekend asking for your winter grades? I thought UCs don’t count winter grades, according to previous posts on other discussions.

Here’s the email:

As soon as I got the email, I responded quickly. And in case you’re wondering what grade I received: Hist 12 = A, Math 52 = B. I am Global Studies major. Both of the two classes are pre-reqs to UCLA GS major, however my first choice is UCSB!

No email (but I am also a UCLA and SB transfer applicant), but I heard about this- any pre-req you take during winter, they will ask for your grades. I took a pre-req to a pre-req that I’m taking in Spring, so that flew under their radar, according to my college counselor.

Hope that helps and that others can help you too. Good luck The waiting is absolutely killing me, and I can’t decide which one I want!

“Transfer students are admitted as Pre-Global Studies
majors and must apply to the Global Studies major after their first term at
UCLA. Effective Fall 2010, transfer applicants must complete a minimum of
six major preparatory courses by the spring term prior to admission. All courses
must be taken for a letter grade.”

I’m guessing these two grades helped you meet the minimum of 6 pre-reqs.

Interesting. I took a pre-req in the Winter too, but haven’t gotten an e-mail like that (I’m a History major, it was my last major req). I’ll be on the look out!
