I’m late to the game of realizing I can’t watch the Olympics without subscribing to Peacock. I’m disappointed that if I want to watch I have to pay or figure out a way to sign up for another service and cancel a month later.

Here are the options for watching:
We watched the Paris games on our local NBC channel with the help of a pancake antenna. It was not ideal but it worked! I like that Peacock has replays.

Be careful signing up through your cable or Walmart+. From what I have seen, without signing up for the highest level without commercials, your experience may be less than ideal.
I moved my Walmart+ subscriptions to paramount for now and signed up for the highest peacock subscription without commercials. it’s under 20 bucks for a pretty great Olympic watching experience.

I want to put in a word here for probably the greatest Paralympics athlete ever, Josh Pauls. He comes from a neighboring town and was in HS with my daughter. He has 4 gold medals in sled hockey, having competed when he was 17 (youngest player on that team), 21, 25, and 29, and is going for number 5 this year at 33. This is his 17th season on the USA team and is once again serving as captain of the team.

It’s so interesting that he and both of the other men’s competitors had two parents that were professional skaters that trained them. Max’s story is obviously tragic and I’m hoping he does well. But Ilia ….unless he has has some huge problem during competition is going to be hard to beat. I’ll be watching but I note that his mother won’t be doing so in person because she stopped going to his competitions years ago….it makes her too anxious and she doesn’t want for him to pick up on that vibe. Apparently Max’s mother was also unable to watch him compete.

Just subscribed to Peacock with no commercials. We actually had to pay 18 something for some reason, but since my husband did it I am NOT complaining. We will cancel it after 1 month so not worth the hassle of doing anything else. ETA it was just tax to make it 18.

So has anyone seen any photos of the Ralph Lauren opening ceremony outfits? IMO they are ugly. Not flattering to anyone and too much of the American flag. I know that’s Ralph’s thing, but it’s not mine.

Ugliest dressed team… sad. Meanwhile, our neighbors to the north will be sporting Lulu stuff. I liked it so much I even bought a couple of things when they were first available on Lulu. Can’t bring myself to buy any RL creations!

Smart move. This is how she ended up wiping out - the snow was so heavy there was poor visibility apparently. That race was cancelled when she became the third skier to crash. I watched the replay of the first men’s training run yesterday, and there was talk of a heavy snowfall coming.

Here are some of my all time favorite EX skates! Igor Bobrin never won any Olympic medals, but he medaled at European and World championships, and his parody EX skates are epic!
Sleepy cowboy is his classic parody skate (this version from 1983-1984 is a better one of the few I found on YouTube)s
And let’s not forget about Philippe Candeloro! My favorite of his EX skates.
