<p>I know it is late but we are looking at cruises for sometime between Dec 19 and Jan 1. Anywhere. We live in Boston if that matters. My husband and I haven’t been on a cruise in 30 years. He loved it, I was so so about it. Kids are now 19 and 12. My husband mentioned Greece, but I am not sure about the weather. I am thinking South America. Any ideas, thoughts, things we need to look out for?</p>
<p>Any time anyone asks about a cruise here, we all direct them to cruisecritic dot com - the other CC! It’s excellent for planning cruises; threads on every possible situation/ship/destination/port, and prompt answers to questions. Once you plan your cruise, you can join a “Roll Call” and get to know (online) some of your fellow cruisers and usually meet up in person on the cruise. Cruises are way different than 30 years ago; not sure if that would be better for you or for your husband!</p>
<p>The first two pieces of advice that popped into my head (been on five cruises):</p>
<p>Bring half the clothes and twice the money.
Fly in the day before departure.</p>
