Winters in Montreal

Are winters in Montreal particularly depressing? How many of hours of sunlight does one get, typically? I’ve heard stories about how early the sun sets, not that it will really effect my wish to study at McGill, but just something to know.

I think they are very cold. And I live in Vermont.

It’s not bad. Hours of sunlight depend on lattitude, and Montreal isn’t much higher than most of New England. Yeah, it’ll be dark before/around 5PM in late December to January (maybe closer to 4PM around the solstice), but that’s it. There’s always at least 8.5 hours of time between sunrise and sunset. This isn’t the UK or Scandinavia…

It’s dark around 6 PM , sun rises at 4 AM

In the dead of winter- solstice- sunset is 4:14pm and sunrise is 730am
