Sorry if this has been posted, but is there a wireless network i can hook up my laptop to in unit 3 or am i going to need to split a router with my roommates? thanks in advance!

I think you need to grab a router.

Can’t you just hook up an ethernet cable to your laptop or use airbears?

Airbears has egregious coverage in the Units…

Check out the Airbears website. A map shows the extent of their coverage.

And yes, Unit 3 does have wireless.

Where does Airbears have good coverage? Is its coverage decent in the classrooms and stuff? Also, I guess Airbears wouldn’t count for your weekly 5GB data transfer right?

I think so. I’ve also heard that Airbears connectivity in the Units is generally fair to awful.

Well any idea about its coverage in the libraries/lecture halls and stuff? Also, any idea about the sorts of speeds you get on Airbears?

Airbears is sufficient for general browsing and such. I would advise against heavy downloading on it, though. You’d be lucky to get 100KBps. Airbears is also notoriously unreliable, so it certainly isn’t a solution to rely on.

thanks, guys. i figure i’ll download from an internet cafe so i avoid all suspicion, if possible. do they monitor uploads?

Airbears coverage is great on the actual campus (including lecture halls and libraries, etc.) … And if youre connected through ethernet cable, downloading is really fast and reliable, just gotta watch out for the bandwidth limit… Or you can also use DC++ if you like downloading… download within the network so none of your bandwidth is monitored…
