Wireless Reception in the Units Mini-Suites

Hey I’m an incoming freshmen who is going to live in a mini suite, I forgot which Unit exactly. I heard that the wifi reception in Foothill can be pretty poor and I was wondering whether or not I should bring a wifi router to the dorm. I like to work on my bed sometimes and set up wireless functions.

thanks

I was in La Loma and wifi was bad for me. Wifi worked for some in the common rooms and outside areas. I did see some wifi routers in some suites so it’s not a bad idea to bring one.

I am generalizing this post so that it will be useful to anyone who reads it

bring yourself a router, it will be extremely useful, especially if you have one or more of the following:

 • laptop
 • a Wii/PS3/XBox 360
 • a DS/PSP
 • an iPhone or any other WiFi enabled phone
 • an iPod touch or any other WiFi enable media device
 • plans to have friends come and stay in your dorm

Are ethernet cords not available in la loma? they are a lot faster… plus you can use dc++. i don’t think it will connect through your own router.

An ethernet cord will be good enough for your room, especially since you’re living in a mini-suite without a common room (I think).

I have a ipod touch that needs to be on wifi all the time. I have a wii, although I never touch it and I have a wireless printer. But the printer doesnt matter since its in a small ass room…
