Son deciding between Wisco or UIUC Gies for business with a finance and/or consulting focus with minor interests in sustainability. What are the pros/cos of each? Seems to me that these are both excellent choices. How would you describe the career opportunities available for finance/consulting grads of each? How about access to internships? Are there schools known for weed out classes or grade deflation? How about the social life on campus? Would a student be able to a club sport while studying business?
There’a a UIUC Gies family webinar tonight. It might be in your child’s e-mail.
Yes!! We are planning to attend.
You might ask for a more detailed and more current report - the Gies report is old and Wisconsin report is ancient. But all schools have these - or - they should be avoided so ask for them.
You might also look at - school sizes, class sizes, etc. Both will be solid schools.
Internships are not given by schools - yes, they get listings/have access but getting them is up to your student - and many often use indeed/linkedin - so go beyond the schools.
Good luck.
I thought the webinar had a lot of good information.
I can’t speak on Wisconsin, but the business program at UIUC Gies is fantastic. Tons of companies recruit at UIUC Gies (both internships and full-time) and the Gies Career Services office is amazing. Social life is great at UIUC and there are tons of clubs for many interests.
Thank you!
