Wisconsin or Davidson?

DD is interested in studying Political Science and English/Creative Writing in undergrad. Says she might be interested in law school after undergrad. These two schools are very different in a number of regards, but would either one be any better for her considering only her academic interests?

Nobody can really answer that. Both are fine schools in their own ways and solid in those areas.

I would say since both have great academics (including in the areas you mention), she should pick on fit.

So, academically, no difference?

Wisconsin has an edge in political science; Davidson has a slight edge in English and creative writing. Both have great law placement.

I live 15 minutes from Davidson, and that was about the only thing that kept me from going there. It’s a fantastic school that’s constantly getting better. Professors are enthusiastic, students are among the friendliest I’ve met, the town is wonderful (women bake cookies for students during exam week!), the honor code is treated so seriously that students can take exams in their free time and bicycles are left around campus for general use, laundry is free (they do it for you), the campus is beautiful, and research opportunities abound. The elimination of loans is a great bargain for those on financial aid!
