Does it matter where you get your undergraduate degree? My goal is to attend a top tier college for my graduate degree such as University of Chicago. At the moment my aim is a masters, but also I will consider a PhD.

I am probably going to attend the University of Oklahoma for my undergraduate degree.

Thanks.

To an extent, pedigree matters. Recommendation writers well known in their field can boost your admissions prospects. But what’s more important is that you take advanced math courses and excel in them, and demonstrate an ability to do research.

Also, if you know now that you want to study econ, there is no point in getting a masters. By the time you’re a junior, you should be able to enroll in some graduate level economics courses (provided you did well in your undergrad courses). If you want to further your studies then, you should just apply directly to PhD programs.
