With only twelve days until the AP World History exam, must I study hardcore?

I started self-studying for the AP World History exam months ago, but I have not studied very often. I’m still not done with my first read through of the content area of my prep book! If I want to score a 5, 4, or even 3, should I study hardcore the next twelve days? I don’t have any experience writing essays, and I’m definitely no history buff. However, I have heard of people scoring a 5 after cramming two nights before, so perhaps I have a chance. Any advice other than say goodbye to my friends, say goodbye to my family, and study all day (which it seems I must do)?

Exactly why people shouldn’t self-study things…essays are a big part of the exam. They have to be written in a specific way to score well. Get studying!!

I think there’s a huge difference between 2 nights of cramming for someone who has taken a College level course, and 12 days of trying to learn an entire semester’s material.

I’ve heard of people winning the lottery, and I even buy an occasional ticket, but I don’t bet the mortgage on that ticket.

I’m also going to take the world exam in a week or whatever. I’ve been taking the class in school, absolutely hate it, but I’m going to study nonetheless.

My teacher focused on the essays which are the hardest part if you have no experience. The rubric is really funny because it actually is explained on the prompt but its meaning is hidden unless you know the rubric. I suggest memorizing the rubric and then getting as much information soaked into your head as possible. Then just practice FRQs (CCOT/Comparative) and then practice a couple DBQs.

I also take the AP WH exam in 12 days and my teacher was a horrible teacher and we stayed on the first unit for five months. She got fired and our new teachers actually knows what he’s doing, but we’re still not going to get finished. We’re literally covering 1800-present in one week. I’m definitely going to study some. We’ve gone over the Comparative and DBQ essays in depth but still haven’t gotten to CCOT and probably won’t. That’s just my story, but I say yes, cram as much as you can and try to remember as much as possible.
