Withdraw applications

I know someone who applied ED to an Ivy league school and she got in already but refuses to withdraw her applications to other schools. I have told her numerous times it is unfair to other people and she is taking other people’s spots but she doesn’t care and refuses to withdraw them solely for the purpose of wanting to see what other schools she can get into. I want to report her but I don’t know who to report to. Can she get in trouble for this? Or am I overreacting? I got deferred to a school and she got accepted even though she was supposed to withdraw her application and we go to the same high school. also, she doesn’t even plan on going to any of the schools she’s getting accepted to because she already ED to another school.

Speak with your guidance counselor. She is violating the terms of her ED agreement and it will negatively affect the school. Your GC would want to know about this and if they have any backbone, can put enormous pressure on the offending student.

I do think this is an instance where butting in is warranted, but if you are concerned, write an anonymous note to the head of your guidance department. They must be aware the person got in ED. In fact, are you sure this person hasn’t already been told by the counselor to withdraw the ohter apps? Surely they would have told her to do it.
