Withdrawing from a Community College Course after Transfer Admittance

I am a community college student with over 70 units in credit, and I was admitted into the Psychology Program at San Diego State University. However, I am taking a Calculus course that was intended to satisfy another school’s requirements (UCSD), of which, are not needed for SDSU admission.

In the acceptance letter, SDSU states, “If you do not comply with the requirements indicated, your admission offer will be canceled. Please keep in mind that you must complete, with grades of C- or higher, all course work indicated on your application as in progress or planned, and maintain your reported overall grade point average.”

My question is if my course is not related to IGETC/GEBR or my specific program requirements, will withdrawing or receiving a W in this course cause the rescinding of my admittance?

Iffy question and depends entirely on the school. Contact your school! I know I had the same issue just today, where a class for SFSU was required, but SJSU didn’t require it. They said as long as I have my finals grades in order (the “golden 4” are completed, and the rest of my GE’s are good), then it doesn’t matter, because that’s a different schools requirement.

Just ask the school. Be safe, and if they say “sure drop it!” make sure they confirm that in writing, just in case you end up getting kicked out, you can reference the email.
