If i drop a course right now, it will show as a “Withdrawl,” wouldn’t it? Does that look really bad if i am applying to haas. the course is just really tough. Any advice would be apppreciated. Thanks

You can’t drop a course right now. The deadline has passed. Last day to drop/add classes was a month ago. You can withdraw for the entire semester out of all your classes, but you cannot drop a class. So you’re stuck in this class, more or less.

Then what’s up with [this form?](http://www.unex.berkeley.edu/info/petition_to_withdraw.pdf)

As far as I know, most universities allow for late withdrawal.

Yes

It likely looks bad, but you have to consider everything. What grade do you think you are capable of getting in the course? Will it hurt the grades in your other courses if you continue to take it? How much?

UCLAri: That’s through UC Berkeley Extension. UC Extension would not apply to him unless he is an Extension student. The form you referred not is not applicable to registered Berkeley students.

Students in the College of Letters and Sciences cannot drop or withdraw from a single course past the 5th week unless there are dire circumstances. However, you can withdraw entirely from the semester (pull out of all your classes).

If you withdraw for the rest of the entire semester at this point in time, the semester-out rule will be applicable. That means that you withdraw not only for this semester, but you must sit out an entire (spring 2007) semester as well.

I also want to add that you can apply for “exceptional schedule change” (found here: http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/fp/fp.html) but these are rarely granted. The fact is that L&S strictly enforces its deadlines, and the deadline to drop and add classes is the fifth week of instruction.

What to do now is go to P/NP. P/NP doesn’t impact your GPA. Also, the deadline to change a letter grade to P/NP is next week (Nov. 3)

eiffelguy,

Point very well taken. My apologies.
