Withdrawing From Course

I am an undergraduate engineering student at Tufts University in the fall semester of my sophomore year. My current transcript is below. How bad does the second W look? If I withdraw, would try to either take the course over the summer if possible or the coming spring semester.

Bio 13
Ap Us History
Ap English

Math 36 (applied calc 2) C+
Intro Engineering A-
Physics 11 (physics 1 for engineers) D+

This is a question for your adviser. There may be course sequencing complications and possible risk to graduation date (aka extra costs to parents).

How bad does it look for whom?

Does your school have an evaluation/review at the end of certain milestones (end of sophomore year perhaps)? Employers don’t give a crap and it is much too early for you to be thinking about grad school.

Schedule an appointment with your advisor to make sure that, as above, you won’t mess up any prerequisites by withdrawing. That being said, my dept advisors said that virtually no one makes it through an engineering curriculum without a W or two, so I would imagine that it would look better than a D or F.

Also, don’t forget to consider full time status # of credit hours and your GPA for any scholarships or financial aid you might be getting.
