Withdrew from a Program BEFORE Disbursement

Hello

I successfully completed and filed a FAFSA and completed all the other requirements my school expected of me, to get a loan for the first semester of an A.A.S program. However, after the first week of classes, I had started having some doubts and those doubts got even stronger after the second week. I finally said “the program will always be here, but I dont want to rack up debt for something I am not confident in pursuing, at this time.” So I dropped. I dropped less than 24 hours before my money was scheduled to be disbursed (disbursement date was 2/26). However, I dropped 2 weeks AFTER my school’s final refund day. So, I received a W for my courses. What will this mean in terms of how much I owe?

I received a Fed Direct Subsidized loan. I noticed my balance was zero on StudentLoans.gov, but is that only temporary?

Thanks!

It seems to me that if you dropped after the drop date you owe at least a percentage of the cost. I’d call the burser

You need to get that answer from the school.
