D25 was accepted to Wofford and Furman. What is their first choice?
4.0 UW/5.2 W, took almost every AP offered, Top 5%, instate. test optional
Two great acceptances already !!
First choice W&L if they get in.
Our D25 was accepted EA app: 4.46wGPA, 30 ACT/32super, 10 AP classes. Going to Main Event next weekend to see if she still loves it as much as she did when we toured last year. It’s in her top 5, she has several schools she’s been accepted to that she likes equally. Will come down partially to best FinAid pkg and then looking at Med School acceptance rates, internships, and just campus life.
Update: our daughter has moved it to her top two! Great visit for Main Event. Will visit another acceptance day in April and then really sit down to discuss pros and cons.
Can you discuss the Main Event a bit more please? Trying to decide whether to attend this weekend or not.
It was a great two day event for our D25 and we the parents. Dad had not been on campus; I toured with D spring of junior year. There was a Welcome to Wofford talk on the first day and then the rest of that evening the kids went to eat in the dining hall and were in groups doing activities on campus and the parents could explore Spartanburg on our own for dinner (small but great town) and then there was a reception for parents as well but we didn’t attend. Our daughter registered early enough to get paired up with a student to spend the night so she got to experience campus a little extra. The next day we met up with D at FinAid to discuss her scholarship, had breakfast in dining hall, then she attended a microbiology class while we went to talks at the career center and one in Main about study abroad, then we had lunch in the dining hall and drove home. It was great for her to get to meet current students on the admissions/orientation team as well as students who would be in her class if she chooses to attend. She left the weekend seeing herself there (and we did too!) Hope this helps.
Anyone still considering Wofford, you may want to review your financial aid in the portal. My daughter checked tonight and there is an additional $5,000 merit grant (on top of previously awarded merit) now showing as part of the financial aid award. She is nearly certain that she did not receive an email or any other notification of this.
Did your D choose Wofford or Furman? Our D25 will be in Spartanburg in the Fall! We’re all very excited! Came down to Richmond or Wofford and she just got a better feeling from Wofford community.
