She should be charged. There is no need for such behavior, especially unprovoked. There is no valid excuse.
I wonder what it says about our society that so many people want to declare themselves as victims. I’m a victim, therefore I’m entitled to whatever bad behavior I choose. It’s not my fault.

@bouders how was she provoked? Didn’t she try to grab the hat before he even said anything? I’m not fan of Trump (or his supporters) but I would never physically try to remove someones hat just because I didn’t agree with it.
Bouders - the bartender was a witness. He said the guy walked up and was just ordering and she starts a verbal attack followed by getting in his face and knocking his hat from his head. No place of business wants this nonsense going on and yes, it is illegal.
IMO - wearing that hat in a Mexican restaurant, is provocation. That said, I’m not suggesting she should have done what she did, and she is not blameless.
She has all the blame. Would you have the same viewpoint if someone were confronted in such a way who was wearing a Bernie Sanders hat?
Wearing a MAGA hat is akin to holding up a sign that says immigrants aren’t welcome. It’s offensive. Wearing a Bernie Sanders hat has no reference to offending other people.
Perhaps immigrants should familiarize themselves with the very American concept of free speech. Just saying.
The dude wearing the MAGA is equally at fault. There might be freedom of expression but anyone who’s not an idiot knows that there are places where you can’t wear certain types of clothing.
Wearing a MAGA hat merely declares that you’re a supporter of the president. Apparently that is offensive enough to entitle others to assault you, according to some. I’m not a supporter, but that is a sad commentary on where we are today. Expressions of free speech? Forget about it, unless I agree with you. Wearing a MAGA hat is akin to wearing KKK robes, it seems.
Problem is, you’re making judgements about a large number of people, and you have millions of people to hold in contempt and hate.
I hate the hat but respect his right to wear it in peace. Just like one should be able to wear Muslim attire in peace or facial piercings in peace.
We moved away from that concept a long time ago.
Exactly what @KKmama said. People shouldn’t feel they are entitled to harass someone because of what they’re wearing.
Saying that someone is “equally at fault” for wearing a hat, as the person who attacks them is disturbing. It’s along the same lines as saying the woman who wore the dress that was a little too short is equally at fault for her rape as the man who raped her.
