Woman beats puppy with a shovel

I am glad she was arrested, just sad that it took so long

How come the vets didn’t call ASPCA. 12 times in 7 mos., would be every other week.

I bet there will be a line waiting to adopt this dog…if I lived in NYC/NJ/CT I would put my name in the hat to bring him home and play with my rescue puppy.

What a horrible story. Why in the world didn’t the husband do something? Surely he had to suspect that something was not quite right.

Hate to say it, but he was probably afraid of being hit by the shovel too! The two of them were probably kindred spirits living in fear of this loon!

I have had horrible nightmares about this. I hope she goes to jail and is abused.

I hope the same zooser, but also let’s make sure that she will have to depend on others to take her to the infirmary like her dog depended on her husband.

Can someone answer why she got the dog? I only hope she doesn’t have children, and if she does, maybe DYFS comes out to check on them for abuse.

I told Bullet a few weeks ago that I wanted a bulldog, to go along with our boxer, and he laughed at me. His response was why don’t we get a lump of coal that druels because that is about all bulldogs do. They are not known to be very high strung compared to many other breeds.

Actually, I hope she dies. There I said it and I mean it.

I would love to have a bulldog. Almost as much as I’d like a beagle. But I am so upset about this.

I love the look of a beagle, but they are too yappy for me!

I think for anyone who has a pet that they consider as much as part of the family as their kids it is upsetting. I look at my dogs, and I will admit, I have hit them when they were pups, never with anything, but my hand on their behind. I look at both of them and just know the only thing they truly want is to love us, that is why it is heartbreaking to me, that poor dog even now if he was called to come to her, probably would just to please her.

I have worked with a horse animal rescue. The things we see are often bad. If any of you have any spare time, a great thing to do is to help out an animal shelter or rescue. Also any donations are really appreciated.

Stories like this are very depressing.

I saw it too. Good for the neighbor who filmed this so they have solid evidence against her. Though I have to say, I would not have had the self control to stay put and and film… I have a lot of trouble even HEARING about animal cruelty, let alone seeing it.

Unfortunately, it is rampant. My sister adopted a shelter puppy that had been rescued by a good samaritan taxi driver, who jumped out of his cab and rescued her and her littermates after seeing them being kicked in the street by ‘children’ (monsters). She said in a nearby town dogs have been beaten to death and even set on fire. What IS it about humans that we have this capacity, and even appetite, for cruelty??

I don’t know lspf72. The banality of evil? Bad influence? Genetics? Society? Abusive homes? Mental illness?

It makes me sick.

The worse part was seeing this woman’s family on the news trying to say how everyone has it all wrong, that she didn’t hit the dog. I live in the NY metro area and when this aired on the news last night it made me so sick to my stomach that I had to turn the sound down because the sound of the dog’s cries was so horrifying. I am surprised that they showed the tape it was so graphic and upsetting.

I whole-heartedly agree with you.

People are sick, sick, sick. Humans are without a doubt the most sadistic animals to ever walk the face of the earth.

I rescue pit bulls- my own baby dog is a rescued pit bull. When I go into the fight houses there are chunks of flesh still in the fighting pit and blood splattered everywhere. People not only watch this, they pay for it and revel in it.

People are SICK and I firmly believe that there should be no distinction between human abuse and animal abuse. This woman needs to go to prison for attempted murder.

Romanig, the problem is people will never send her to jail, she will plead down, pay a find and be required to community service.

b&p, I hope she gets more than a simple community service sentence! The puppy mill owners here in WA got a year in jail. Too light, in my opinion.

[Local News | Gold Bar couple sentenced to year in jail in puppy-mill case | Seattle Times Newspaper](http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2010889970_puppysentence26m.html)

b&p, I’m well aware of what she will get. I said I believe that there should be no distinction between human and animal abuse.

In Michigan, if you kill an animal, you’re looking at about a year of probation. Nothing more, nothing less. That’s the same as my fiance got for having a small amount of weed on him. That’s deplorable.

IN our area while our school district is top heavy with administrators that make over $100K, they want to eliminate elementary school counselors to save money.

Behavior like the above and this case, does not operate in a vacuum, we either pay for services now or we pay for incarceration later.

god, these stories are so sad :frowning: how is it that she may only end up with probation??? that’s deplorable.

“after seeing them being kicked in the street by ‘children’ (monsters)”

ha, oh god D:

I believe that there is a special hell for people who abuse children and animals. I don’t think I could have watched any video clips of anything associated with this poor dog’s abuse.

I think it is natural for people to want to jump at the chance to give this dog a new and happy home, but I would fear about the emotional damage done to this pup and how it might lash out because of all it has been exposed to. I have seen a few such rescues do inflict some nasty bites to children’s faces and limbs , and who could blame them, when they have been so badly hurt ?

What a horrible, horrible story. How could the vet not report her? How could the husband witness this and not stop it? I just don’t get it.

I agree with b&p and some of the rest of you - the key is to find out if she has children, and check up on their well-being.

Justice will only be served if she serves time. Community service or parole just won’t cut it.

I hope someone hits her with a shovel. Repeatedly.
