Posts of a violent sexual nature made on a Facebook page called “UW Crushes” caused controversy at the University of Wyoming. An anonymous poster, styled as a conservative, targeted a specific student at UW who he wanted rape because she “runs her liberal mouth all the time.”</p>

<p>The student, Meg Lanker Simons, has since been cited by campus police as it appears she posted the threat herself.

<p>Your thread title is confusing. She didn’t lie about a sexual assault, she has apparently lied about a sexual threat against her. Turns out she made the threatening post herself for whatever indefensible reason.</p>

<p>She hurts the case of actual victims of both threats and real assaults. Additionally, due to the permanence of the internet, she has tied her name forever to this act.</p>

<p>I hate it when women lie about things like these. It just makes it that much harder for women who actually are sexually threatened or abused to prove their case. So many cases of rape end with “not enough evidence.”</p>
