Women(?) and Shoes...

CGM, every single pair of shoes I own is black. Different shades and styles - some patent leather, but every one is black. More than a few times I’ve arrived for an important meeting accidently wearing two totally different shoes - in a hurry, not looking, so, this way at least if I make a mistake in a rush it’s less noticeable.

My daughter tried and tried to get me to buy a brown pair at the awesome DSW sale - they had the same styles that I bought in black also in brown, but, I refused, even at $9.00 a pair. She kept arguing the logic and I guess she was right, but I just couldn’t do it.

Berurah, there almost had to have been some mistake. I lurk around in DSW all the time but rarely buy. I have never seen them do that before…

I’m not sure what DSW is, but I rarely buy stuff that is NOT on that kind of sale. That’s the only way I can clothe six kids!

DSW-Designer Shoe Warehouse.

LTS, you got lucky! I have never seen a deal like that at that store!

I am fortunate enough to have a Talbot’s Outlet relatively close. Finding $100+ shoes for under $20 is not that rare an occurence. Under $10 only happened once in my size.

I got a great shoe deal this week. Found a pair of Keen hiking shoes (normally over $100) on a clearance rack at Dick’s Sporting Goods for $9.97! There was only one pair and they were my size. Told DH it was just fate. Of course that’s what I say about most all of my shoe purchases! Happy shoe week…woohoo.

I am often lucky enough to get the last pair the store has on sale, mostly 'cause my feet are so small (5 1/2 narrow). Of course, it also means that if I find the perfect shoe for an occasion or outfit I need to buy it right then, even if full price, 'cause most stores only stock one pair in my size, so when it’s gone, it’s gone. My DH has become resigned to his fate; he learned early on that it’s really hard for me to find shoes that fit and are also comfortable, with a foot this small and (esplly) narrow (often the size 5s, 5 1/2s only come in medium).

Actually, I think one reason women are obsessed with shoes is we are always looking (hoping?) for a pair that combines style AND comfort. Too often our female feet are in pain in an effort to “look good”. Men’s shoes are always comfortable 'cause they don’t wear either high heels or pointy toes. I love Birkenstock dressy shoes, but H always says they look like kids shoes (the Mary Janes). Ecco Mary Janes are good too. Neither one is cheap.

Merril’s don’t look good? Uh oh. ;)

Oh how I love Merrils! I may not have many shoes (as stated earlier), but I love my Merril hiking boots (so comfortable…) and my Merril sandals (may they rest in peace, my parent’s puppy tore them apart when I was home this summer).

Any parents have some cash to spare on an adopted child? I really could use a new wardrobe (mainly clothes, but could use shoes too ;))

No! And I still have my circa 1984 Doc Martens, but alas, they no longer fit. I Have a pair of sneakers for walking, a pair of black casual flats, a pair of black heels, and a pair of brown mid-rise boots that can be worn with skirts or pants. And winter boots, for bad weather, which we seem to be missing in New England thus far. (touch wood)

My teenage sons both wear top-quality backpacking boots purchased for less than $30 at REI’s Scratch-and-Dent sale. I <heart> cheap boots. </heart>

Also, who says men don’t have a lot of shoes? I think I have more than my wife: black sneakers, running shoes, black dress shoes, brown dress shoes, backpacking boots, winter boots, snow boots, leather work boots, bowling shoes (very old), working-in-the-garage shoes, gardening sneakers, brown walking shoes, expensive sandals that don’t fit right, $5 Wal-Mart sandals that are great, flip-flops, boat shoes (Top Siders), and bicycling shoes. Pretty much, if it doesn’t require special shoes it’s not a sport.

I have more shoes then I need but I find I tend to buy the same type over and over - Clark clogs, birkenstock sandals and then some teva’s that look sort of like the birkenstocks. I have a couple of wedge sandals but that’s about as far off the ground as I care to go. Comfort is #1 but I think Clark is pretty good at combining comfort and style. I don’t think pointy high heels look good anyway - when I see them, I always think how silly they look.

If we’re talking comfort shoes, my Dansko clogs are great! I also get in more than one color if I find something that I like that fits well.

^^^ And my Ugg boots! :)

“comfort shoes” my blue 3 1/2 each heels give me great comfort!!! I put them on and smile…
