I do own spanx but only wear them under dresses.

Jymax, spanx do not roll up at the ends. I have them and they are very comfy. I only wear them under clingy dress clothes.

Honestly, all the shapeware I’ve ever tried on made me look fatter. It sort of squeezes the excess flesh to another place and then there it is in all its glory. I think the thong is the greatest invention in the world for slimming your profile. It’s weird but it’s true.

Not a fan of the thong. Perhaps I’ve never had one that – ummmmm – “fits” well.

S1’s school had a 3 day jr. year bash as their “parents weekend”, complete with fancy evening activities. I bought a Spanx type one piece shapewear that went over my bra and snapped at the crotch. That was 2.5 years ago and it hasn’t seen the light of day since. Doubt that it ever will. It may have made me look better but I also enjoy breathing :)

I’ve resisted this too, not that I couldn’t use it. It’s too reminiscent of the girdle my mother used to wear in the early 1960s.

Well I had my shape wear debut tonight. Wore it under a dress for about 4 hours. I’m still alie and breathing. :)

It wasn’t bad! It’s a hot day - in the 90’s- of course I was in the AC most of the time. I thnk it helped my dress look smoother. Wouldn’t wear it on a regular basis but it was comfortable enough and only crept up a little. Still glad I bought it and will have it to call to duty if needed. :)

The trick to not looking like a sausage coming out of its casing is to buy shape wear one size up from your normal size. And for those with hot flashes, there are different fabrics available, and some of them really breathe.
I’ve always thought that the inventors of stick on maxi-pads and pantyhose (this is for those of you who remember and had to wear, garter belts!) should be awarded special Nobel Prizes. I’ve recently added the inventor of Spanx to that illustrious list!

I own something similar to this. [Seamless Body Shaper | SPANX® Slim Cognito®](http://www.spanx.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2990122&cp=2992553.4058787&parentPage=family)
It’s great under dresses and does not squeeze anything or roll or ride up or down.

Well I’ll go bacak an give shapewear a re-visit. I saw spanx somewhere discounted, but now cant recall. TJMaxx? Steinmart? Kohls? Anyone know?
The las shapewear I bought wasnt comfortable and did the roll up thing and eas not atractive at the thighs. Any suggestion for the lower leg ones?
I should look into the ones for the clingy tops as my bra lines show but it isnt really a roll or anything, just the demarcation of the bra across my back. (Yay diet- goodbye backfat )

^^ The model looks like she is enjoying the heck out of shapewear! All smiles!!

As noted the key to comfort and rolling up is the right size. Agree that you should buy at least one size up.

Just FYI, this new shape wear (I can only speak to spanx) is NOTHING like the girdles of the earlier eras.

My piece only covers shoulder to just below the waist. If I were to buy something for the hips/legs/butt area I think I would just want a one piece something with slight boy shorts. I hate that control top feeling around the waist.

And yes, absolutely buy one size up - it will still be PLENTY tight!!!

How are they sized? 6,8,10,12 ? Small, med, large?

I bought an XL - even though I often wear a medium, sometime large. All the other ones on the rack (at TJMaxx) were letter sized - S, M,L…

Does TJMaxx sell Spanx?

Spanx as in the brand, or “spanx” type undergarments - I definitely saw some spanx type stuff…but each store is different and the selection always varies.

Oh- people are paying attention to you. They notice. Trust me on that.

They are sized S, M, L…I got Spanx…I think at Kohls. I bought a size large and believe me, I’m not a size large. They are very comfortable.

I am aware that Spanx is the brand name. Has anyone tried the knockoff brands?
