Wait…seriously? I don’t know what “smokers mouth” is but it sounds awful. I sip water through a straw all day long at work!!! I have for 20 years - I seriously just took out my mirror - what am I supposed to worry about exactly?

I guess from reading all of these posts, most of us are ready to give up yet. I say, good for us. Nice to share some of our personal remedies.

My dermatologist did a ‘levulun blu-light’ treatment on me in January. The reason is that I have lots of sun damage and pre-cancerous scaly spots on my forehead & nose. I was red as a beet for 2 days, then peeled like I had been in a fire - it was disgusting, however my skin was soft and smooth for several months. I didn’t need foundation. I will probably do it again in the late fall (after beach season).

One way to firm up thighs is spin class, squats & lunges.

I assume “smoker’s mouth” is the fine lines that form above the upper lip from puckering lips.

Yup that’s smokers mouth or lips…

mamabear and sunnyholiday, I too could join that club. I don’t own make-up, never colored my hair, had a manicure or pedicure and don’t care or understand about fashion. I have told my H how low maintenance I am, but I don’t think he appreciates it.

Check out the link to Ellen vs Michelle in the Exercise thread posted by idad. Ellen is 54 - she looks great, IMO. :)

I hear 50 is the new 35. ;)

nj2012Mom- my dermatologist has suggested such a peel. How many days till you felt your could go out of the house?

“Smoker’s mouth” is one reason I quit at 27 - I didn’t want my skin to look as horrible as the women in the photographs with the article I read on it. My skin looks OK, but it’s always been very oily, which has turned out to be a good thing. I’ve thought about trying skin care products, such as RoC or Olay Regenerist, but I can never figure out what I should use, when should I use it, etc.

Brought it over cause I love Ellen and Michelle and this is sweet! Not shabby for either of them - Ellen at 54, Michelle at 48!!!

“Another hint. Don’t use straws, it’s gives you smokers mouth.”

So do the bottles with the tops that pop up that you sip out of. :(

My dermatologist’s instructions of staying out of direct light weren’t too clear to me, so I went to the gym at 6am, then to work the next day…bad idea, by 2pm, my eyes were nearly swollen shut (had the procedure at 5pm day before) and I ended up getting a cortisone shot. (they told me I had one of the ‘best’ reactions they had seen!) The next day I spent the day at home with all lights turned off, but needed to officiate a swim meet that evening. The nasty peeling started 2 days after and took 2-3 more days, but I lived with the benefit for 3+ months.

Gosh, nj, that sounds awful.

I had my second sublative laser treatment yesterday so I am also red as a beet for a few days.

Happy I only have one more treatment to go. After that I am definitely getting botox for the 11’s. According to my doctor, like muscles have memory so do wrinkles, so the deep ones really need botox to freeze them.

Ditto on bangs being a good thing.

How long does Botox, for the 11’s for instance, last?

Went to a grad dinner tonight and sat across from a 50-ish very stylish mom who had been lifted at some point (there’s a look to the mouth that doesn’t come from anything but a facelift) and botoxed. She looked really good. But clearly is working hard at it. I’ll go as far as expensive creams but a facelift - no.

Ditto bugmom. All natural here and in pretty good shape–except for being a bit underweight. (My secret? Drink tea!) Feeling a little pressured on the hair dye since I still have elementary school kids, but holding out. (Shocked to hear moms 5-15 years younger talking about botox. . .Please.) Glad I don’t live in the corporate world–I certainly could be a candidate for What Not to Wear. I go for simplicity and comfort always. Never wear heels or jewelry, either. Everyone looks good with a smile.

I don’t need botox, with the right make up I can look 10 to 15 years younger. But I don’t brag about not wearing make up, I just don’t because of time. No facelift for me because it seems painful.

Botox usually lasts for 6 months.

I’ll join the bug woman group. No makeup,no hair dye, no high heels… never had a pedicure or manicure…but a big fan of alegria shoes and soft footbed Birkenstocks. Think of all the money I didn’t spend!!!
