Women's Cross Country time to help with admissions

Hi! I’ve been an average-timed cross country runner for the past three seasons in high school. This upcoming season I’m looking to have a 19:00 minute 5000m time, which would rank me in the top 50 girls of the state. Would this record help with college admissions? As in, would it boost my decent application enough for an Ivy League admission?

Hi swolfe - in order for your XC time to boost your chances at Ivy admission, you have to be at a point that you are being recruited. In other words, it’s sort of a binary thing - if your times are at a level that the coach feels you can help him win, there is an opportunity for admissions support. If you are a pretty good runner, but not really at a Division I level, then it’s just another extra-curricular on your application.
