Women's World Cup Soccer

One of my Ds was there at the parade with a friend of hers who is a member of the Canadian team. I watched what I could online and it looked like a wonderful celebration. The only downer was that so many of the streamed comments were hateful. Ugh.

The interview with Anderson Cooper was being played at the same time as Rachael Maddow was also interviewing her too. I was flipping back and forth between them both. Rapinoe is very intelligent and well spoken. Interesting, she mentioned her older brother (39, she’s 34) has been in and out of jail for much of her life. He’s out of jail now and seems to be doing better according to her.

Honestly, soccer at the Olympics is not very interesting to me. The men’s teams are all U23 and the women’s teams will not include France and Germany.

men’s soccer at the Olympics will be highly interesting (to me) assuming that the US can make it in (they haven’t for the last 2 cycles). The core group future for the USMNT (Pulisic, McKennie, Adams, Sargent, Weah, Reyna, etc) is all under 21 years old. This group has a better chance of doing well simply because they’ve been counted on for a while.

Yep, it’s like watching the “rising stars” or “futures” games challenge for MLB or the NBA. I’d rather watch the U17 or U20 WC’s., which I do. The U23 teams may contain a few senior team members, or not, but most of those U23 players in the Olympics will never make it. Anywhere.

I only have so much bandwidth and there are so many other interesting events/sports to watch at the Olympics.

So my newer office receptionist husband works for the women’s soccer association. She showed me film of him in the locker room during their win celebration. He was soaked! Will have to see about tickets for whatever is coming up now that I know.
