Wondering about University of Chicago

I’m a sophomore in high school right now and I’ve been trying to start looking up colleges. At the moment, University of Chicago is my top choice. I just received my report card and got a 94.0% average, but I normally get around 91.% overall. Math isn’t my best subject and I really struggle in it. And by struggle, I mean I pass by the skin of my teeth. Other than that, I get 90s in just about everything. I’ve been looking up programs for the summer and as of now, I’m considering joining NHI (National Hispanic Institute) and taking NYU’s Precollege course this summer. I also have to do at least 40 hours of community service to graduate high school. I’m going to do more, of course. My goal is to complete at least 200 hours by graduation. I’m a very strong writer and entered Bennington College’s writing contest this year. I just want to know what are my chances of getting into University of Chicago or what schools might be best for me academic wise. Sorry this is so lengthy, I babble a lot!

Thanks for any and all help! <3

NYU seems realistic… as long as you can afford it and score 2000+.

But U Chicago is a reach, even at 2200+. It does care about essay writing, though, so your best bet is writing essays.

Hey i think its great that you want lots of community service and everything but from what ive learned you might be going about it in the wrong way
what college councelors have told me is that youre better off devoting yourself to a project or group and working up the ranks in it
just food for thought

also as a URM you have a stronger shot at chicago but you’ll still need 2200+ to be competitive
