Won't release my transcripts now what?

I am looking to attend WVU upcoming fall online for their Child Developmt / Family Studies. The program requires a cum. 2.5 GPA I have 3 college credits from HS which are good but my first year of college didn’t go so well I was then a nursing major and couldn’t handle my classes and only got a GPA of 2.0. I went to RMU my second year and got a 3.58 my first semester then a 3.19 my second but they won’t give me my transcripts due to a balance. I really need in this program. I already sent my application or else I would sign as a freshmen. PLEASE HELP

Transcript holds are usually because you owe a school money. Do you?

Yes as I said above I have a balance. Should I try sending a second application as a freshmen ? Or maybe my HS transcript will help me get in? I got a 3.5 in HS

I really need in this program I got great grades at institution that is holding mine

You’ve completed two full years of college. You’re a rising junior, not a freshman. If you apply as a freshman, the other college will find out you lied when they run your name through the National Clearinghouse and you’ll be rejected. If you get far enough to get accepted and are awarded financial aid based on freshman status before they find out, that’s considered fraud. I believe financial aid fraud is a felony.

How much do you owe RMU? Have you tried to set up a payment plan?

@kenadeek

You should probably call WVU instead of sending in a second application. Also, have you paid off your balance yet?

I owe about $13,000

Is there anyway WVU can get my grades ?

Not if RMU won’t release them. And why should they? If you’ll lie about having attended there to get into the program you want, why would they believe you’ll pay after they release your grades? The only leverage they have is to hold your transcript until they get paid.

First off it’s not like I want to lie I was just researching options online and it said I may have to apply as a freshmen.

I emailed RMU about a payment

I apologize if I’m misunderstanding something. Do you have to be a freshman to be eligible for the program? According to the WVU website, to be considered a freshman you can’t have taken college courses. You have 2 full years of college, so it doesn’t look like they’ll consider you a freshman. Where are you reading that? Be careful not to enter a program that will run longer than your remaining aid.

Have you withdrawn from RMU yet? Make sure to completely withdraw from housing, classes/registration, and the food plan. Try calling them tomorrow and see what they say about the transcript too. You owe them directly? If you have student loans, I think the 6 month grace period for them ends in Nov. if you’re not in school. How many different organizations do you owe and how much debt are you carrying now?

RMU isn’t going to release your transcript…at all…until you make arrangements to pay the balance you owe.

You CANNOT just skip sending that transcript…and pretend you are an incoming freshman. You are not. In addition, on your other threads, you say you will be applying for financial aid. younneed to be HONEST…and your financial aid record will very clearly note that this is NOT your first year in college.

This is certainly a twist…to your other threads.

Please…learn a lesson here…find an affordable school…BUT be honest about what you are doing.

I’m not sure I understand why being near RMU is more important than anything else in your life.

I want to go to school ONLINE AT WVU! I will have more concentration that, WVU is a party school and I don’t like the campus so Online will be perfect. I don’t owe at any other schools besides RMU.

You really are stuck. You can’t get the transcript, and you can’t go back to RMU until you pay the $13000. They wouldn’t have let you register for this fall either.

All you can do before you can go to any school, anywhere, online or on campus, is pay off the $13000. When you’ve done that, you can transfer and you have to disclose all other schools you have attended.

@kenadeek

When asked how you paid your balance last year…you SAID your parents paid it out of savings.

Is that NOT actually true?

At this point, you need to get your finances in order…or you really can’t go to college ANYWHERE. RMU isn’t going to allow you to register with an outstanding balance from last year. They won’t release your transcript so you can NOT transfer elsewhere.

So…at this point…get your $13,000 debt paid off. Once that is done…then you can move on.

Perhaps a year off of college to resolve the financial issue is in order. You say you have a job…and are sharing rent and living costs with your boyfriend. Get a second job too…and pay off that $13,000.

THEN start looking for an affordable way to get your teaching degree.

Would paying $13,000 off for sure get me into the program at WVU you need a Cum. Of 2.5?

We have no way of knowing. You have transcripts from 2 different colleges. I think it depends on what courses WVU accepts from each of them.

Does WVU do a good job of accepting courses ?
