Nice to see a Woo Hoo from you concerneddad. Awesome. Congratulations.

Congrats! Nice way to end a tumultuous year!

Indeed, thanks to all. A very nice Holiday present (not that they are giving away the store, just making it an affordable reality).

Affordable reality is great in my book. Congrats.

Ah, there is nothing so lovely as a good financial aid package!! And may all your holiday days be so bright!

Happy Chanukkah! Celebrate big time!

Congrats to your college applicant Concerned Dad. Whitman is a great place.

a big congratulations concernneddad - yeah! woo hoo! i was just wondering yesterday how to spell woo hoo…now i have my answer:)

a good way to start the new year concernneddad - congrats to your d.

concerneddad~

I SO remember the feeling of “YES!!! We’re gonna be able to DO this!!!” So glad you are getting to experience it! CONGRATS to your obviously deserving kiddo and to you all! ~berurah :)

Great news, Concerneddad… now maybe you aren’t so concerned? :)

I am getting less concerned all the time! One more kiddo to get off to college and then – I just got to pay all the bills. Hmmm, maybe it is not time to be less concerned! LOL

concerneddad, this is great news. :)

Great news! And have a good holiday.

Please rate package on a $ to $$$$$ scale. :)

And congratulations!

Congrats to you and your college kid!
Is it a merit based package? If you would, spill the details!!

Not merit.

TD, on a scale of $$$$$, I would give it a $$$1/2. It is not based on FAFSA EFC, as we have not done the FAFSA yet. It was based solely on the CSS, which is not as generous as the FAFSA. Carolyn was the first to warn me that Whitman is not very generous, and I would agree. On the other hand, the important thing for our family is that the numbers make sense and are “doable.”

Of course If I had wanted the best $ package for her, I would have counseled her against going ED. But, it was want she really wanted after doing her due diligence , so who I am to say no to a 16 year old who really worked her tush off to get accepted?

It is funny how things one says as a throw away line become so true. A few years ago when my son decided to take the very generous merit scholarship Tulane offered, I commented to someone on this board that his decision would really benefit his sisters one day. And, that day is now!
