Word Count Question.

Hello All,

I have several supplements that limit me to 300-500 words and such. Let’s say I wrote 300 words for a 300 word supplement. I heard that I should put my name, school, and date of birth across the top of every essay i submit. Doing this, however, puts me at 307 words for a 300 word limit.

My question: Should I leave out my name, school and date of birth for the word count / will adcoms refuse to read my essay because it is over the word count due to my name and other identifying information?

thanks,
bryan

No, adcoms will never refuse to read your essay.

They shouldn’t refuse your essay, but I don’t think that you need to do that for online essays. When you Print Preview them, they have your name on them (so it would be redundant).

I would put that information on all paper essays that are submitted, but not electronic ones.

It would take them longer to count the words in your essay than to read and evaluate it. Remember, they’re people. :)
