I’m almost finished one of my essays, however it seems to be over the world limit. The prompt says not over 500 words, however, the character count is 4000–which allows for my entire essay.
I haven’t edited yet, so I am sure I can pare it down a bit, though I’m not sure if I can get it to 500.
Do you think it is bad to be over even if it fits within the character limit?
It’s creative and a fun read, in my opinion, if that makes any difference. So it’s not just dragging on boringly.
Thanks for your input!

Some of the electronic forms will not even let you paste in something that is longer than the requested character count, or word count. Before you edit, just try a copy and paste first. My S found that it was either character OR word count - and as long as you hit the one required it fit - and it was fine.

Sometimes the prompt will have a word count but the little box will have a character count that is much more than what is typically needed. Usually it’s best to go with the word count provided in the prompt.
