Word Game-->SAT I

Let’s make this thread work!

Okay, so a person is going to post a word and someone has to define it and say how they remember it–either a common phrase, or some other device.

Then the person who answers must post another SAT level word that’s teh next letter in the alphabet.

I’ll Start with A

Aspersion

Acrimony- bitterness or harshness because acrid means bitter

Aspersion - slandering someone
Don’t aspersion me fool (yeah, I can’t think of a good example, lol)

Booboisie

Lol, mash–are you talking about bourgeoisie?

In which case, the lower class, I believe.

Curt.

dupe- an easily tricked person

Only dopes are duped (haahahahahah)

wait sorry that dosent make sense
…a dope is a dupe

is that better?

well you can be a dupe. or you can BE duped. its a noun and verb.

Zachsta,

Booboisie is the term used to describe the gullible / ignorant class.

Okay, new word. Read the rules guys, you need to add a word after you define and give a way to remember it.

capricious

always having mood swings! It has the same rhythm as “bipolar.”

olfactory

lol, no, i really meant booboisie. check it at dictionary.com, haha

In any case, aspersion is a noun, and you’ve used it as a verb.

olfactory=having to do with the sense of smell.

pedantic

carries a teacher-like intent. meaning to preach…

quixotic

pendantic: too concered with abiding with formality

grandiloquent

grandiloquent - pompous / bombastic / verbose in speech, also lofty

hegemonic

quixotic : idealistic without regards to reality

grandiloquent: arrogant in its extravangance; doesn’t it usually pertain to words? I dunno…

erudite

erudite - well educated or learned.

delegitimization

delegitimization: process of being invalidated (delegitimize = invalidate/make less credible)

hegemonic: derived from hegemony (its good to know relationships!), which would be like domination/unilateral control. political term. like, “We should seek to curb the hegemonic foreign policy of the US”.

I think you should use word in sentence as well. clarifies noun/adj/etc. and that’s how I ‘know’ words, through sentences/phrases (easiest way to learn vocab)

ohhh, edit: word is delineation

delineation: a description of something like a plan (right?) in either words, art, or a diagram

sententious
