Does anyone else play Word Welder on their iphone or ipad? I just downloaded this app a couple of days ago, and now I am seriously hooked. I’ve not made it past level 6 so far, and there are 12 levels. It gets wickedly difficult at the higher levels, with lots of ways to thwart your most ardent efforts. But, that’s what makes it challenging. This is way more fun than scrabble!

Haven’t tried it. We have a great words with friends network though. I play some people in know IRL and they play some people I know that they don’t, etc. some of the players are very good. Will look up word welder. Thanks for the tip.

i am on level 7…i came so close to moving on–just missed by one word. fun game–but i think i might be seriously hooked, too!

oh…i honestly don’t understand the group swap thing…i use the jumps, reverse and swaps–the group thing escapes me somehow!

Still trying to figure it out but so far really like it.
I get tired of waiting for players to take their turn with WWF.

just passed level 7!

must be my lucky day…just passed level 8!

Lax mom you need some new wwf friends!

wbow, I’m impressed! That’s fantastic, congratulations! There are several videos on Youtube that helped me with the understanding how to perform the group swaps and other things like clearing the broken tiles. Before that, I was pretty bewildered when it came to certain operations. Have you tried the Wordwelder sandbox section yet? It’s just for kicks and giggles, with no pressure whatsoever. It allows unlimited swaps and special moves for as long as you want. The game just keeps going and going. You build words and watch the score skyrocket, and stop whenever you grow tired of playing.

I’ve been writing down the obscure and esoteric words that come up during play, words like “haet”, which means “jot” or minute amount. It’s also an “emphatic synonym for hate.” Also, “dhow”, which is a lateen-rigged ship with one or two masts.

I already feel smarter—LOL. Really, though, I think I could benefit from a little pocket dictionary full of such words to study, and have at the ready when I play WordWeld.

Interesting game. Thanks for the tip. I just died two words away from level 12 with 34,ooo points. Never figured out the group and reverse thing.

Perfect game to play while the experts agonized over Iowa follies.

Yeah, thanks for the tip on this game. I love most any kind of word games and this one is very cool! I’m still trying to figure out the swaps, though, and I always forget about the diagonal swaps!

Let me put in another plug for my favorite online Scrabble site for those of you who really love Scrabble. [The Pixie Pit](<a href=“404 error”>http://thepixiepit.co.uk/) . They do charge a fee of about $12/year to maintain the site but it’s worth it. I usually have a couple of games going with my sisters every day. It’s done through e-mails.

showoff…;)

I figured out the reverse and group by watching the videos. Died on level 10 for second game. Beginner’s luck!

I just reached level ten. Brain hurts. Think I’ll stop for the night.:)

I got to level 15 but it will take lots of luck to clear 99 words. It is hard to play the entire level with around five swaps.

Reached level 8 and ahhhh had to wuit last night - I did not get anything done all day. Thanks for the tip, I think. BTW - when I can’t remember the different things like group and jump, there is a ? in the little box that will run through a quick demo for you. I find that helps when I am stuck.

Wait. Level 15? Are you pulling my leg? There are only supposed to be 12 levels.

Nah, I would not do that. I downloaded the game after you posted the tip, and my version came with 15 levels. I play the iPad version. Perhaps the iPhone is only 12 levels.

The closest I got to finish 15 was 40 words left by using wooden letters only when swaps are exhausted. I now think that the trick is to stockpile doubles and triples to make a really big word and get lots of swaps. The biggest handicap is to lose the word when the board gets cleared by arcane words picked by WELDER.

I still believe that one needs good luck to clear the higher levels.

I downloaded my iPad version only about a week ago. I guess mine has 15 levels also. But of course, given the fact that I’ve only now reached level ten, i’ll not know for sure until I surpass level 12 (assuming that day ever comes—LOL).

It does tell you how many levels you have left until extraction when you start.
